Copper Kingdom

In Anglesey Copper Kingdom learn the history of the oldest and most famous copper mine in the United Kingdom.  How the copper was mined, how it was supplied for Nelson to enable his boats to be coated on the bottom with copper, thereby enabling them to defeat the French.  The evolution of copper  mining throughout the 2000 years mining has taken place on the site.

Amlwch Port

Amlwch Port

A port used during the 18th century by sailing ships to transport copper ore from Parys mountain.  When the mining began to decline the port was still used for ship repair and other maritime industries. At least 5 miles away.

Parys Mountain

Parys Mountain

Ann old copper mine extensively mined during the late 18th century.  It is now believed it was also mined in the early bronze age as sub surface debris of nearly 4000 years old was revealed during the 2002 excavation.
